What a hell of a year it’s been, emphasis on hell. I’m not sure there’s anything I could write that would be spookier than 2020 but it’s finally that special time of year: Halloween! In my very biased opinion, the best holiday there is.
At the start of this year, the birth of a new decade, October seemed bright. Halloween on a Saturday. Lined up perfectly with daylight savings time for an extra hour of spookiness. Not just a full moon, but a blue moon on Halloween night. We should have known it was too good to be true.
The pandemic may have thrown a wet towel on in-person parties and door-to-door trick-or-treating, but there’s still plenty of Halloween fun to go around. Carving jack-o-lanterns, checking out the neighbor’s decorations, Halloween costumes, zoom parties with friends, scary movie marathons, and an excuse to binge more candy than any reasonable adult should consume.
