Lanky Bastards Present a Stolen Footage Music Video

Gather round children and let me spin you a yarn.

Once upon a time, I drafted my fellow lankers into helping me find more songs for a Halloween playlist. Shroomie obliged by adding a funky/jazzy reinterpretation of Michael Jackson’s track, Thriller, by a Spanish band called Speak Low.

It’s a fine track, safe enough to bring home and introduce to the folks. Different enough from the original that it’d be easy to think it was a different song entirely (whosampled wouldn’t lie to me…would it?) Now, where was I? Oh yeah…so I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Wait, wrong story.

One day I was playing this song while hanging out with my girlfriend (sorry ladies). Part way through, she looked up and said, “this sounds like the type of song you’d hear in a movie car chase.” She was absolutely right.

I decided the next video I would make (I’ve been known to make an occasional stolen footage video or two in my day) would be a car chase music video for this song! I then promptly forgot all about it.

Months later, a global pandemic forced quarantine gave me the motivation to finally follow through. I hope you enjoyed my yarn. The important thing to take away was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time.
