Why is it, that every time I’m talking about music, some joker has to tell me that nothing today compares to the good ol’ days?

Come on, man! FUNK DAT!

There’s plenty of amazing music today! You just got get off your ass and start digging, baby. Ain’t no trash ass song from the 70’s survived this long for you to know about it. I’m not saying old music is bad, it was and is fantastic. It’s our foundation. But music has exploded in recent years.

If you look long enough, you’ll find what you’re looking for in one corner of the internet or another. People are mixing and matching genres and styles and creating whole new trends. Other people are recreating the sounds of past decades or bringing underplayed genres from around the world into the mainstream. If all you do is listen to the radio and playlists that are “curated for the masses,” you might be the problem.

“But Kip!” you say, “I just don’t have the time to dig for my own tunes. Where would I even start?” Now we’re getting somewhere. The first step to solving a problem is acknowledging you have one. I’m proud of you, that’s brave. There’s good news. We here at Lanky Bastards got all your groovy, spicy musical needs covered.
